I created this Moroccan courtyard environment in UE4 as part of a 3 week course at Futuregames. I initially posted that version of the scene, and since then I have reworked it to this new version after receiving some great feedback from Kim Aava and Alexander Samuelsson that really helped me push this scene as far as I could.
The main focus of the scene for me was to create a modular environment and to dive deeper into material creation in Substance Designer. I managed to create most materials just by experimenting so I feel like I have started to understand it a bit better. I also wanted to try out sculpting foliage and work on a few more detailed props and use different material definitions than I usually do so I went for a lot of metallic and ceramic materials. I created the banana plant by sculpting and baking a high poly version and the pink Bougainvillea plant using atlases from Megascans. The green ivy and the palm leaf is grabbed from Megascans as well. The cats are 3D scans from Sketchfab:
